HBO Max’s Succession aired the finale of season 3 of their series not long ago. What next for the Roys?
Season 3 was a Whirlwind
Season 3 featured two Roy characters facing off. Logan Roy (Brian Cox), and Kendall Roy, (Jeremy Strong), all vie for the leadership of Waystar Royco’s media conglomerate. The Roy family owns it. Without spoilers, the next season promises to be even more exciting.
This season’s success was due to its character development. After Kendall had given his consent to the company being charged for sexual misconduct, I was thrilled to see him change the subject. Everyone sides after the drama between father and son. Strong and Cox are also featured on the show, as well as Sarah Snook (and Alan Ruck). Strong cast members represent the Roy family, who aim to leverage their power to climb the corporate ladder.
Matthew MacFayden portrays my favorite character Tom Wambsgans. He is married and a member the Roy family. He is a complete fool in most cases. Siobhan (Snook), Siobhan’s wife, is also a serial cheator. This is evident on their wedding day.
In season 2, he becomes more assertive. While he’s still a horrible person, he shows more charm when he goes into Waystar’s news sector. MacFayden has a wonderful American accent which is amazing.
Succession is now one of my favorites. It’s a TV series with all the right ingredients: brilliant performances, captivating storytelling, and hilarious dialogue. It’s a captivating series with a subject matter I wasn’t sure would interest me: a corporate drama that features strong characters and lots of twists. It’s a pleasure to watch, and every actor delivers a brilliant performance each week. The writing is incredible. It is not as popular as Breaking Bad in terms popularity, but it is a strong contender as the best TV series and streaming service currently.
